Fly fishing has become really popular in the area due to the abundance of excellent trout and bass fishing. The many crystal clear rivers and dams in the higher reaches are regular favourites with the serious and skilled fly-fishermen. There is also a growing number of recently initiated fanatics who embrace this most challenging and personally satisfying of angling pursuits.Brown and rainbow trout occur throughout the region. Most put up a good fight and all make a very tasty meal, grilled or fried.
Stretches of the Mooi River offer boating facilities whilst the upper reaches of the Mooi are a fly fishermans paradise.We have Howick Falls on the doorstep, the Albert Falls Dam Nature Reserve with its nature trails, picnic spots and some of the best bass fishing in the area.
Midmar Dam is again on our doorstep and is renowned for its fishing, carp, bass, scalies and bluegill are plentiful. A freshwater fishing licence is required, which you can pick up at the office on your way in through the gates.
