The International Film Festival South Africa which was held at the Everglades Hotel between the 12th & 18th October 2008 reached a glittering climax on Sat 18th October 2008 . Over 20 specially created awards were presented to the film makers in attendance.

The Winner of the “Best In Festival Award” was renowned Hollywood Writer, Director and Producer, J.F. Lawton.

His hits include “Pretty Woman”, “Under Siege One & Two” and the “VIP “ television series starring Pamela Anderson.

His award winning entry is entitled “Jackson” an innovative street opera based amongst the homeless of L A.

Mr. Lawton said:

“I’m  thrilled, as this was our African Premier screening  and that  both audiences and the awards committee judged our Film worthy to receive this prestigious accolade. This is my first visit to South Africa and to the Everglades Hotel and I will remember forever fondly the wonderful people of the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands, and the amazing scenery”.

Festival chairman John Evans said:

“ The Film Festival has attracted a growing number of International entrants, all of whom enjoyed their stay, and formed lasting new friendships with other budding Film Makers. We are now focusing on The Film Festival 2009 which no doubt continue to grow and is presently the largest  Film Festival in Africa.
